ドイツ留学その１【ICSM2024 】

 みなさんお久しぶりです。M2の青柳です。

前回ブログを書いたときはまだ中国にいたと思うのですが、今回はドイツに来ております！！

これだけ海外に行ける機会があるというのは山本研の魅力の一つだと思います。　

ドイツでは国際会議であるICSM2024に参加し、その後イエーナの共同研究先で１ヶ月ほど研究活動を行う予定でいます。また合間には、私の同期が留学しているグルノーブルも訪問します！非常に楽しみです！！

今日はドレスデンで行われているICSM2024の様子を紹介しようと思います。

ドレスデン到着後、山本先生とD1のNさんと街を散策。天気も良く散歩日和でした。ドレスデンは歴史を感じる建物が多く、非常に楽しかったです。

会場に到着、エルベ川沿いのきれいな会場です。

ランチの様子。立食形式で毎日違う料理が楽しめます。相席した海外の学生と交流で来たのは良い経験になりました。

学会の最後の夜に行われたBanquetでは、クルーズ船に乗ってディナーパーティーへ！

主催のKarl先生が中世貴族の仮装をして登場！写真を一緒に撮っていただきました。

学会を通して多くの人と交流できたのは非常に良い機会だったと思います。特に参加している学生は博士課程の学生が多く、参考になる話をたくさん聞くことができました。またどこかの学会で会えたらいいですね。

ドレスデン、いい街でした。次のICSMは2年後、リオデジャネイロでの開催になるそうです。

Nokogiriyama (鋸山) and Mother Farm (マザー牧場)

I've always wanted to go to Nokogiriyama and Mother Farm for a long time, and yesterday I finally did. Thanks for Oku 君 and CUI 君. 

I previously wanted to spend three or four days going to the Boso Peninsula (房総半島) in Chiba. but now may be this is last time I went to Chiba. Because this was my third times to go Chiba and the views in Chiba that I want to go have been gone. 

Nokogiriyama:

Oku君 failed to find Mountain Fuji!

I also invited Ku San to climb Nokogiriyama. But he rejected my invitation and asked my why not Tsukuba mountain.  After climbing Nokogiriyama, I found that the process of hiking Tsukuba mountain is more interesting than the process of climbing Nokogiriyama, but The scenery at the top of Nokogiriyama is better than from the top of Tsukuba mountain.

Mother Farm:

The goat has completed its chirality research, but it is not yet known when my chirality research will be completed. But can I use a goat's horn as a CPL laser? 

On the way back to Tsukuba, I missed the highway intersection. Then I was surprised to find that I missed the highway intersection when I came to Chiba before, and I re-entered the highway at this place.

Kamikōchi (上高地) and Tateyama Kurobe (黑部立山)

When people from other countries ask me where I went to play in Japan, I don’t know how to answer. Because I don't know how to pronounce Japanese kanji. The reason is because I can also spell Japanese kanji in Chinese. It's really hard for me to remember such long syllables. However, for the convenience of communication, I have to remember the Japanese pronunciation.(Maybe I remember the pronunciation today and forget it tomorrow.)

This trip was with a group of Chinese people I met for the first time. I'm actually quite sociophobic. But Kamikochi really attracted me. And the scenery really didn’t disappoint me, it was so beautiful and spectacular!

Kurobe Tateyama is the most beautiful attraction I have ever visited in Japan! none of them! And it attracts a large number of foreign tourists, including many Indians and Taiwanese. 

But I won’t go there a second time because the tickets are really expensive. Our tickets can go back and forth from Ogizawa to Murodo. The price is 12,300 yen per person! Tickets accounted for two-thirds of the total travel cost.

（When we were packing up the tent, we discovered it was freezing.）

（This is my first time camping, and the lowest temperature can reach 6 degrees. I didn’t feel cold in the sleeping bag, but I still didn’t get a good rest because I wasn’t used to sleeping in a sleeping bag.And some of the older guys living next to my tent kept snoring. The snoring didn't stop from about 9pm until we left the next day. I envy this quality of sleep）

（I have seen monkeys in the wild more than once, but this time I saw two monkeys fighting! To be precise, one monkey is bullying another monkey.）

Hachijō-jima（八丈島）

When it comes to Japanese islands, the most famous island for foreigners is probably Okinawa. But Okinawa ia far away from Tsukuba and travel is also much more expensive. So, Tokyo's outlying islands are more suitable for me to visit. In this case, I traveled to Hachijo island recently.

I took a ship from Tokyo to Hachijo island, which spent about 10 hours from 10:30pm to 8:40am. This was my first time on a ship so I was excited. Of course, I bought the cheapest ticket, and I cannot sleep at the night because it was really uncomfortable. But the view outside of ship was very beautiful!

In addition, the sound insulation on the ship is not good. Because we couldn't sleep, we were chatting quietly. But we were warned by staff not to disturb the passengers living above us.

At 4:30 in the morning, there will be an announcement on the ship. So I was woken up. Since this time was almost the same as sunrise, I ran to the boat deck to watch the sunrise. But unfortunately, the sunrise was blocked by another island, and the sunrise process could not be seen at all. Fortunately, the weather was nice that day and I was able to take some great photos.After watching the sunrise, I felt a little seasick after returning to the cabin. Maybe it's because I didn't get enough rest last night.Seasickness medicine is also a must for anyone taking a long ship ride for the first time.

We finally arrived on the island around nine o'clock the next day. We reserved a car in advance, so we just put our luggage in the car and went to climb Mount Hachijo Fuji. It is worth noting that on Hachijo Island, cars are the best means of transportation. 

After climbing the mountain, it was time to play around the island. Beautiful seaside, rich plants, and sweet birdsong.

Unfortunately, I didn't get to experience diving this time. I've been looking forward to a dive! So if I have a chance this summer, I will definitely go diving! 

The natural scenery on the island is really beautiful! Hiking in the woods is also wonderful! Maybe it’s because I have lived in high latitudes for a long time, and tropical plants are attractive to me! So I’m looking forward to my next trip to the island!

I have to say that there is really very little variety of food on the island. So after we got back, we went to a Chinese restaurant for roast lamb! delicious!
